CSX requires that you use electronic tools to conduct shipping transactions. Our electronic transaction tools can help you Plan, Ship, Trace and Pay for your shipments quickly and efficiently, with secure data that is specific to you and your company.

In addition to providing secure transactions tools, CSX is dedicated to maintaining the security of your shipping information. When you call the Customer Service problem resolution option (1-877-ShipCSX, option 5, option 6), you will be prompted to enter your ShipCSX User ID and PIN to verify that access to shipping information is authorized.     Look Up Prices
    Use the ShipCSX public access price look-up to get prices for shipments. You will need to know the origin and destination of the shipment, the serving railroad at each of those locations, and the commodity you are shipping. Look up a price now >

    Use the ShipCSX secure access price tool to access your active carload prices and the supporting documentation behind each price. You also can download price lists and other reference material. You must be a registered ShipCSX user to access the secure tool.

    Get Schedule Details
    With the ShipCSX Service Schedules public access tool, check carload schedules between any CSX-served city, junction or customer location. Look up a schedule now >

    Order Cars
    ShipCSX Car Order is a secure-access tool that provides the information and flexibility you need for ordering general merchandise equipment.
    - Order up to five weeks in advance
    - See how many cars are moving to fill your order
    - Add or delete car types you would like to order
    - View order and fulfillment histories
    You must be a registered ShipCSX user to access the Car Order tool.

    SHIP 
    Electronic tools make the shipping process easier. Whether submitting shipping instructions or requesting switching service at your plant, we have several secure options available.

    Switch Requests
    To request placement of cars at your facility and release empty cars, use:
    ShipCSX Plant Switch: Submit requests online using the Plant Switch tool on ShipCSX, our secure transaction website.

    EDI Plant Switch (Electronic Data Interchange): Instructions are electronically processed directly from your internal inventory system to CSX's internal system via an EDI 423 message.

    Additionally, both these tools can be used to:
    - View inventory en route from shippers, at CSX serving yard and your facility.
    - Appropriate cars for quick reload.
    - Reject empty railroad (non-private) cars back to CSX.
    - Modify open requests.
    - Inquire on past switch requests.
    - Release equipment to forwarding railroads, if eligible.
    - Place cars to an alternate location, for customers with lease tracks.

    If you do not always work at a computer, but need a convenient, accurate way to submit switch requests, use our secure telephone system:
    IVR (Interactive Voice Response) Plant Switch to request placement of loaded or empty cars and release empty cars back to CSX using a telephone.

    Shipping Instructions (or Bill of Lading)
    ShipCSX Shipping Instructions - Submit shipping instructions with easy-to-use online tool.
    Helpful features include:
    - Real-time confirmation of successful submissions.
    - Real-time notification if data errors require correction. Helps eliminate errors that can cause shipping delays.
    - Correct or cancel CSXT shipping instructions no matter how they are originally transmitted.
    - Save repeat instructions as templates.
    - Use the time-saving Quick Ship for repeat shipments.
    - See the status of all shipping instructions for your location.
    - Use "look-up screens" to help you select correct information.
    - Print or e-mail multiple copies at one time.
    - Save drafts of incomplete instructions, and complete them when it's convenient for you.

    Hazardous Auto-Reverse Program
    Hazardous material cars -- whether full or empty -- cannot be moved without shipping instructions.

    Save time with CSX's Hazardous Auto-Reverse (HAR) Program, which automatically generates shipping instructions for empty hazmat cars that are returning back to their origin. When you submit a pull request for an empty hazmat car, HAR generates empty-return shipping instructions for moving the car. Confirmation is automatically faxed to you.

    To participate, review the HAR Authorization , print and complete it and fax it to 904-332-7144. You will be notified when authorization is complete.


    TRACE 
    With shipment visibility offered by CSX there are no surprises - you see the same shipment information we see. We provide a variety of tools to help you stay on top of your shipments.

    Set Up Tracking Reports: ShipCSX Parameter Trace - Create customized, parameter-based reports to monitor specific traffic lanes. Schedule these reports to run and automatically e-mail results to you at pre-determined times.

    Track Individual Rail Cars: ShipCSX Rail Car Tracking - Carload customers use this tool to trace rail cars, to use quick-trace features, or to save pools of cars for repeated tracing. View results on-screen, download results or have them delivered via e-mail. Quick-trace features allow you to view cars at your industry, in the serving yard or en route to your serving yard.

    Track Shipments - ShipCSX Shipment Tracking - Retrieve timely and accurate rail car movement information. Car locations are projected onto an interactive map.

    Schedule E-Mail Alerts for Specified Events: ShipCSX Event Notification - Create alerts to be automatically e-mailed to you when certain rail car events have occurred.

    Retrieve Waybills for Past Shipments: ShipCSX Waybill Retrieval - Retrieve waybill information for your CSX shipments.

    Other Tracing Tools
    Touch Trace Telephone Tracking - Get the tracking information you need over the phone, at any time, from any place.

    EDI Trace Information - Receive tracing information via EDI. You provide the parameters or fleet information, we provide automated customized trace information.     PAY 
    Complete the shipping process with the suite of secure settlement tools available online or via EDI.

    Manage Freight Invoices Electronically
    ShipCSX Account Invoices - Take control of your CSX payables.
    - View your invoices on-line with complete invoice detail
    - View or print copies of the actual invoices
    - Download invoice information
    - Have invoices delivered each day via e-mail
    - Dispute bills on-line
    - Keep track of exceptions
    - Pay on-line
    - Schedule payment and amount

    Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) helps you manage cash more effectively with the rapid, accurate, and uniform transfer of financial information. These funds transfers are initiated through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) operation of the Federal Reserve Bank. Three options are available:
    - ACH Debits. CSX charges your company's bank account.
    - ACH Credits. Your company sends payment to CSX's bank account.
    - Fed - Wire Transfers. Your company sends payment and remittance detail to CSX's bank account.

    Monitor Demurrage
    Monitor Demurrage Accumulation with ShipCSX Demurrage Charges - Manage demurrage (the charge assessed by railroads for the extended use of rail cars by shippers or receivers of freight beyond a specified free time) with this secure tool. Demurrage information can be analyzed by location, account, or by specific rail cars.
    - View a summary of demurrage charges.
    - View account location summary details.
    - View current monthly demurrage charges for closed cycle cars.
    - View number of cars and details on constructively placed, ordered, placed and released daily, or monthly, by location.
    - View account details of demurrage charges for last 4 months.
    - Link to Plant Switch tool to request a switch for cars accruing demurrage charges.
    - Subscribe to receive a daily summary of demurrage charges.
    - Analyze demurrage information by account or by specific rail car.

    Freight Claims
    Submit a Freight Claim with ShipCSX Freight Claims - Filing exception reports and freight claims online with the ShipCSX Freight Claims tool saves you time and helps us provide you faster, better service. This tool also helps you with the administrative work associated with managing exception reports and claims.
